My latest novel, The Menagerie is continuing to have good sales as it starts its second month since publication. I know of a few sales through Barnes & Noble that have yet to show up on my royalties listings so it will be interesting to see just how long that process takes. Books that sell on Amazon show up the day they are printed to ship which is nice, as I know how many I have sold there right away!
I've received some interesting comments about the book and story. All I am pleased to be able to report are very positive! I even have one request for me to write a sequel to the story as the reader thinks there is more to the story that should be continued in a second book. So, that is something I have been giving a lot of consideration to do. Waiting for the person to tell me what they would like to read more about that has left them with unanswered questions about things and some of the characters.
My mind lately has been focused on something else besides writing. I had an encounter with an aggressive and obviously sick bat while topping off my small wildlife pond on Monday, September 17, 2018. I don't think I was bitten or even made any physical contact with the bat, but I have been getting the treatments for Rabies just to be on the safe side. Last shot will be this coming Monday morning!
A word to the wise, after do extensive research on rabies and bat bites. A bit may not be felt or leave a big enough wound to be noticed. Also bats urinate and spit out saliva as they fly and it that gets on your skin it can be unknowingly transferred to an open wound or into your body by touching the urine or saliva and then touching your nose, mouth, or eyes, etc. For this reason the Center for Disease Control, or CDC for short, recommends that if you have an encounter with an aggressive of sick bat and it comes within 5 to 6 inches of your body, especially your face and hands, you could have been infected and should get the Rabies Treatment, which is four shots of the vaccine over a two week period. According to the Emergency Room staff at the hospital I went to, there is a two week period to start the treatment! So far I have not noticed any new Super Powers from my encounter or treatments!
As for my latest novel, I hope those of you who have purchased it have enjoyed it. I know one person has said they are going to post a review on Amazon, and I thank her in advance for doing that!
Have a great coming weekend and watch out for bats!
